update: nothing much has changed at all from tinkering: still encountering the same issue.
@Sam You’re my final hope, I’ve stared at a wheel for an hour and am losing my mind.
I found the solution; for some reason, the back wheel was clipping into the ground by maybe a half millimeter whenever the robot was dropped onto the floor.
Glad you found a solution to your problem. Note that pinging me won’t be much help, as I am no longer an employee of Robot Mesh LLC.
