Mimic Arena Examples

Each example below has a public arena project, and a public example which uses it. The example has a VEX IQ Basic robot. You can use Test Drive and drive the robot using WASD keys, or by writing a blockly program to solve the arena.

Green And Red Ghosts
Demonstrates how to use the green and red ghost orbs to provide positive and negative scoring. Timer counts up from zero.

Score Blocks
Demonstrates how balls can score if they are pushed between a goal (between two walls).

Excellent resources.

Are there test projects available (with prebuilt IQ mimic) for programming in Python instead of Blockly?

Are there any sort of tutorials on building these type resources ourselves?

Any Blockly Mimic project can be converted to a Python Mimic project.

Choose ‘Copy Project’ and change the language type. Make sure that you select the option for ‘Mimic’ or else you will lose the CAD simulation.

The ‘Copy’ options can be found by clicking on the ‘Options’ / Gear button on the toolbar.

What is the significance of the “B” environments? Ie, “VEX IQ Mimic Python B Project” vs “VEX IQ Mimic Python Project”.

Which should my students select?

The ‘B’ projects are in Beta.

This was done so that the IQ robot and V5 robot use the same commands.

The Beta projects will ultimately become the defacto project type in the near future.

The Beta is reasonably stable, however we reserve the right to change the API without advance notice during the Beta period.

I would recommend learning the BETA.

Is it possible to you to do a video to use the basic features of Arena?
I need to use the points and put some diferent challenge with interactive scenarios.

Thx in advance
