Gyro Sensor. How it works?

How would I use the gyro sensor to make precise 90 degree and 45 degree turns in Robot Mesh? I am new to using this sensor, and this would really help.

reset heading
turn until gyro heading reads X degrees

This is using a Blockly BETA program for VEX IQ. The code for V5 will look similar.
